News 2 minutes read June 2008

Eyeworks, one of the world’s leading independent production companies, has expanded its production presence to Denmark and Poland by the acquisition of Easy Film. With this latest acquisition Eyeworks is now present in 14 countries on 4 continents: The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, the UK, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia and the US.

Established in 1984, Easy Film is one of the largest independent production companies in Denmark and has built a solid customer base consisting of the national TV stations such as DR, TV2, TV3 and the SBS channels. As a strong pan‐Scandinavian player the company is also highly active in Sweden and Norway through co‐productions with local partners, producing international hit formats such as ’The Biggest Loser’, ‘Peking Express’ and ‘Beauty and the Geek’. Based on the company’s capability of producing and managing pan‐European productions, the Discovery Channel has selected Easy Film to produce an European version of highly acclaimed US hit ‘Dirty Jobs’, hosted by Danish football legend Peter Schmeichel.

In Poland, Easy Film holds a strong position focusing on prime time entertainment and is currently producing a local adaptation of the Eyeworks game show hit ‘Beat the Blondes’, to air later this year. Furthermore Easy is the largest producer of commercials in Poland.

The acquisition boosts Eyeworks’ Scandinavian presence and adds Poland as a new territory to roll out the rich Eyeworks catalogue. Furthermore, Eyeworks will enrich its portfolio with Easy Film’s respected library of TV entertainment, documentaries, drama and feature films.

CEO and founder of Eyeworks, Reinout Oerlemans: “Easy Film joining the Eyeworks Group enhances our ability to pitch for pan‐Scandinavian business, together with Eyeworks Sweden. Furthermore, Easy Film has already proven to be able to connect to our catalogue through the recent commission of the Eyeworks format ‘Beat the Blondes’ in Poland. Niels and his team also have a strong track record on a creative level. I look forward to make the Easy portfolio travel within our group.”
Niels Bokkenheuser, CEO Easy Film: “The television market evolves more and more into a global business. Joining the Eyeworks Group gives us access to an international network with great opportunities for creative exchange, which is immediately proven by the recent commission of an Eyeworks format in Poland and additional Eyeworks formats being negotiated intensively in Denmark.” As of today, Easy Film will be renamed Eyeworks Denmark and Eyeworks Poland.
