Discovery networks and Eyeworks close deal for Kings Cross ER

News 2 minutes read July 2012

Discovery Networks and Eyeworks Distribution have finalized agreements for the Australian reality series, Kings Cross ER (10 x 30’). Produced by Eyeworks’ Australian arm, the series will air on Discovery’s channels in the U.K., Benelux, the Nordic region and Central & Eastern Europe. Prior to the European deal, Discovery Networks had also secured the rights to Kings Cross ER for the United States, where the series premiered June 30 (local title ”ER Nights”) on Discovery’s Fit & Health channel.

Kings Cross ER goes inside the heart of one of the busiest, most unique and most famous hospitals in the world – St. Vincent’s in the Kings Cross district of Sydney. It’s often said that there’s nothing that can make a St. Vincent’s ER doctor blush. They have literally seen it all. Through its doors come rock stars, celebrities, billionaire moguls, captains of industry, and the homeless – and all are in need of urgent care.

St. Vincent’s extraordinary team of ER doctors, nurses and specialist consultants pull together to perform lifesaving surgeries, treat multiple stab and gunshot wounds, alcohol-fuelled head traumas, drug overdoses, car crash casualties and everything in between.

Kings Cross ER made its worldwide premiere February 2 on Foxtel, and became the highest rating documentary program in Australian subscription television history. Currently, the series airs on New Zealand’s TV3 as well.
