Production Company takes up residence in historic building in summer 2013
Eyeworks, the internationally reknowned production company, is relocating to a historic building in the heart of the centre of Amsterdam. This stately building, also known as the HES building, will serve as Eyeworks’ international headquarters starting summer 2013.
This step marks a new milestone in the eleven year history of Eyeworks. The building at Raamplein 1 in Amsterdam will serve not only as the base for Eyeworks Holding, but also for its affiliates Eyeworks Netherlands and Eyeworks Film & TV Drama.
The new Eyeworks building was originally built in 1901 and was the long-time home for the Academy of Economic Studies (HES). Later, it served as a courthouse for several years. When, at the end of 2011, the building was up for sale, Eyeworks chose to make it their new home.
Reinout Oerlemans, CEO and founder of Eyeworks: “For some time now I was searching for a place in Amsterdam that matches our roots in a better way – an inspiring environment that fits our culture and aspirations. I’m very excited that we’ve found such a place! Not only for the 200 creative people who work with us here in the Netherlands, but also for the many international guests we welcome weekly in our headquarters, the building and the location will be very appealing.”
Boudewijn Oranje, District Director of the city of Amsterdam: “We welcome Eyeworks as the new resident of this historic and landmark building in Amsterdam. It is a building with style that fits perfectly with the prominent role of Eyeworks in the media landscape, both at home and abroad. We are pleased with the fact that Eyeworks’ head office will be located in the inner city, and will be so close to many other theater and entertainment venues in downtown Amsterdam.”
